Here are some common questions around Laser hair removal

Have a read through some of our common questions if you still have questions complete a contact form or for pre/post laser care below.

What is the difference between IPL and Laser hair removal?

IPL is a broad Spectrum of lights and uses every colour in the rainbow to target the hair reduction. Whereas lasers are one colour & heat and are designed to target the hair follicle.

What does it feel like?
It feels like a rubber band with a little heat, this heat is taken away instantly with our cryo cooling machine.
How many sessions are required?

Because everyone’s skin is different we recommend between 6-10 treatments, once completing your course of treatments you will need maintenance between 3-6 months or even 12 months down the line.

How often do you need to come in for treatments?

If we are treating the face or neck we would start the treatments off every 4 weeks. Anything from the neck down we would start the treatments off every 6 weeks. Once we are seeing a slowing in growth would start moving appointments out.

Does Laser work for all hair colours?

Unfortunately no. The laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair, therefore if the hair doesn’t contain enough pigment the laser will not be able to differentiate between the hair and the skin.

Can you have a laser treatment when you are pregnant or breastfeeding?

Even though it can seem like a great idea, as a company (NUDE Skin and Laser) we do not perform laser treatments on pregnant clients. This is due to it not being recommended as the risks are uncertain and the fluctuation of hormones during pregnancy and early months of breastfeeding can compromise the effectiveness of the treatment. When breastfeeding for the first 3 months we will not treat, 3-6 months we will need a doctor’s note and after 6 months we can treat as normal.

Can you have laser hair removal done over tattoos?

Unfortunately we cannot laser over tattoos. As the laser will cause the pigment in the tattoo to distort, it could blister, burn and even damage the skin.

How to come to appointments?

We ask you prior to appointments, to Shave the area being treated 12-48 hours beforehand, Not to have has significant sun exposure for at least 2-4 weeks, No Fake tan in the area being treated, No waxing plucking threading epilations for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment and no advanced facials/Peels for upto 2 weeks if the face is being treated.

What technology do we use?

Here at Nude Skin and Laser we use a medical grade FDA approved Laser called the gentlemax pro by candela along with our cryo cooling machine to make the treatments as comfortable for you as the client.

What is the difference between Bikini, Extended Bikini and Brazilian?

A bikini is the area of the upper leg and inner thigh in which pubic hair grows that is normally not covered by the bottom part of the swimsuit.

Extended bikini is an upgraded bikini. It covers the area on the thigh running along the V line and is 3inchs deep. It also covers the top of the V line to give you a cleaner look.

A female brazilian treatment includes the removal of all hair from the entire pubic area including the anus.
